Additionally, Renea travelled to Uganda to expand their Speech and Debate program through the National Debate Council. For her actions, Renea was awarded the Debate Coach of the Year for Broward County, the Frank Sferra Director’s Commendation Award from the NSDA, the Jenny Cook Mentorship Award as well as being named CW’s Network Super Teacher of the Week.

Renea is a woman of many talents. When she is not honing her students’ skills at the podium, Renea’s passion is poetry. She is the author of four poetry collections, the first of which was released in 1999. Mumblings of a Maniac is her latest collection. She has been featured on BET J’s Lyric Café and has toured the United States and Canada.

Renea is a sought-after teacher and trainer. She has created her own curriculum and pedagogy, Teaching through Technology, Arts and Gaming (TTTAGS). Additionally, she has led trainings and workshops for schools, districts and national conferences throughout the United States and in Uganda.

She is the owner and CEO of Fortlo, Inc. and the founder of a not-for-profit Fortlo Academy Diversified Learning Institute, Inc. (FADLI) where she provides a space for students to learn creatively and pursue their passion.
